Island life
Catch a catamaran across the shimmering Baía de Todos Os Santos, head south, and take an exhilarating speedboat ride through atmospheric mangrove swamps to discover the Ilha de Boipeba’s tranquil beauty.

The small town has a few restaurants, bars and the relaxed vibe of local people making a simple living. Nearby, quality pousadas nestle in lush tropical gardens with glorious views out to sea.

Boipeba is a perfect option for a restful break from Salvador – the island is car-free – secluded beaches, sensational seafood and excellent small hotels offer a combination of real peace and pleasure. Lie back and enjoy the island’s gorgeous palm-lined beaches; swim, snorkel, or explore its unspoiled lagoons and reefs by boat. And at the end of a blissful afternoon catch a lift from a local fishing boat to watch spectacular sunsets from a floating bar – feast on freshly caught oysters with a caipirinha chaser!

Caipirinha, pronounced ky-pee-reen-ya, it’s made with fresh limes, ice, sugar and cachaça – a strong alcohol distilled from the juice of sugar cane. Delicious – and easy to make!
